WOLA’s migration and border security program documents the violence, corruption, lack of opportunity, and other factors driving forced migration to the United States’ southern border, as well as the dangers that migrants face along the journey north, at the border, and when expelled or deported.
We monitor how current policies impact migrants’ human rights, including their access to asylum. WOLA proposes alternatives to border militarization and other deterrence-based strategies; we advocate for policies that recognize the profile and dynamics of regional migration today and that respect human rights.
