WOLA in the News: Joel Fyke Quoted in New York Times,

Washington Post on Paraguay

WOLA’s research on the Paraguayan presidential elections has been widely cited in U.S. news media, including in The New York Times, The Washington Post and The San Francisco Chronicle.

Those newspapers quoted WOLA Program Officer Joel Fyke, who visited Paraguay, inspected the voting process and interviewed dozens of politicians and electoral officials as part of WOLA's on-going monitoring of democracy and the rule of law.  WOLA’s election report, authored by Fyke  “Elections in Paraguay: Change in the Air”, can be found here.

The election brought the reformist former Catholic bishop Fernando Lugo to power and
ended the Colorado Party’s 62-year-long rule. Last year WOLA co-hosted a presentation by Lugo in Washington.  For a statement on that event, please click here.
